Dreaming with Jim

I heard this song, which is quite possibly my favorite Jim Croce song, this morning while I was stuck in traffic. It made me smile. It's simplistic and beautiful, and no one has a better voice than Jim.

I GOT A NAME

Like the pine trees linin' the windin' road
I've got a name, I've got a name
Like the singin' bird and the croakin' toad
I've got a name, I've got a name
And I carry it with me like my daddy did
But I'm livin' the dream that he kept hid
Movin' me down the highway
Rollin' me down the highway
Movin' ahead so life won't pass me by

Like the north wind whistlin' down the sky
I've got a song, I've got a song
Like the whippoorwill and the baby's cry
I've got a song, I've got a song
And I carry it with me and I sing it loud
If it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud
Movin' me down the highway
Rollin' me down the highway
Movin' ahead so life won't pass me by

And I'm gonna go there free
Like the fool I am and I'll always be
I've got a dream, I've got a dream
They can change their minds but they can't change me
I've got a dream, I've got a dream
Oh, I know I could share it if you want me to
If you're going my way, I'll go with you
Movin' me down the highway
Rollin' me down the highway
Movin' ahead so life won't pass me by

I love Jim Croce. It has been FOREVER since I've heard anything by him. I had a boyfriend in highschool who was practically obssessed and really good on guitar. He could play every song perfectly but he could not sing to save his life. He loved to sing "time in a bottle" for me and it was almost painful to hear but I love the song.

When do you start your new job?

Don't you love him? His voice is right up there with James Taylor, as far as I'm concerned.

I'm SUPPOSED to start on Monday, but I haven't filled out any paperwork yet. So, I'm hoping he's just been busy. I think so. He seems like an honest guy.

Oh, and I'm so excited because he and his wife (they both own/run the business together) are only 27. I think they'll be a TON easier to deal with.

I also am a Jim Croce fan. Someone actually sang "Time in a Bottle" at my parents wedding. How 70's is that?

That is exactly the right amount of 70s.

The new job sounds great.

And yes, psycho "reserves" ex boyfriend who as of three months ago was STILL trying to break up my marriage.

COME ON Massachusetts!

I am a HUGE Jim Croce fan. Like Brother Bean said, Time in a Bottle was my parents wedding song. One of the things I am most thankful for getting from my parents is their music tastes. I have my own of course but artists such as Jim Croce, Kenny Rogers, The Eagles, etc. are from them.
